Cartiere Carrara to install CHP for expansion

The Italian tissue paper manufacturer Cartiere Carrara is to install a combined heat and power plant in order to back-up the expansion of its tissue paper capacity.

Local media reCartiera paper manufacturingport that the company is to install a new tissue machine at its Ferrania mill in Cairo Montenotte in the Liguria region and this is to be accompanied by a new cogeneration plant, in a €10m investment.

The new tissue equipment is to have an additional capacity of 60,000 tpy while the cogeneration plant would be able to produce 4.3 MW of energy.

Cartiere Carrara produces tissue paper and converts it to tissue products such as toilet paper, paper towels, handkerchiefs or tablecloths. It is the sixth largest such manufacturer in Europe, operating nine production facilities in Italy.
