300 MW plant operational in Mexico

Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) has launched commercial operation of the Nuevo Pemex cogeneration plant, a 300 MW facility in Tabasco state, Mexico with a capacity to supply 800 tonnes of steam per hour.

The plant, which cost almost $530.5m, will supply 190 operation centres of Pemex, generating savings of $152 million a year, the Mexican state oil monopoly said.
The plant was built by Abengoa (MCE:ABG) and General Electric (NYSE:GE) and represents 11.2% of Mexico’s installed cogeneration capacity.
