Siauliu Energija, the Lithuanian energy company launched a combined heat and power plant in the city of Siauliai, Lithuania, in a $36m investment, analysts predict will be paid off within nine years.

The project was initiated by EU structural finds, as the country aims to reduce the dependency on expensive gas imports,

The plant will use wood and the residues of timber industry and logging.
