REpower Systems has clinched contracts for 47 wind turbines across seven wind farms in Germany’s Northern Friesland.
REpower will install 33 2 MW and 14 high-performance 3 MW turbines, which combined will have output of 114.83 MW. The turbines should be operational by 2013.
Northern Friesland is establishing a reputation as a stronghold of public wind farms in Germany and according to Jens Müller-Nielsen, REpower Systems’ managing director, is being keenly watched for further developments.
“With the success model of public wind farms, the region is leading the way for other regions and states, especially in Southern Germany.”
All seven wind farms have a full maintenance contract for 15 years, with a further five-year option, and are expected to be built at the end of 2012 or in 2013.
