Polish energy firms purchase $320m in wind power generation

PGE SA and Energa SA, Poland‘s largest energy producers, have made another significant step in replacing its coal power plant stock.

The companies have acquired $320m in wind power plant generation from Dong Energy as they look to make compliance with European Union regulations and disband ageing coal power plants.

PGE will acquire 60.5 MW of operating assets and 555 MW under development, the company said in a statement. Energa will get a 51 MW wind farm and 220 MW of planned facilities, according to the filing.

The company said last May that wind energy will account for most of its spending on new generation as it raises wind capacity more than sevenfold in four years. For Dong, the divestment of onshore projects will help it finance an offshore wind expansion while cutting costs.
