Poland’s PGE expects the commercial start-up of its 900 MW coal-fired unit 5 at its Opole plant in the third quarter of 2018.

The company said it expected unit 6 (900 MW) online in Q1 2019.

The Polish utility expects to issue the construction order of the new Opole units on 31st January, it said, on its website.
The units will produce approximately 12-13.4 TWh annually and burn 4.1m tonnes of hard coal, emitting 0.745/t CO2 per gross MWh production, PGE said. They will have an efficiency rate of 45.5%, it added.
