First Northeast Electric Power Engineering, a unit of China Engineering Group, has awarded Alstom a contract to supply a steam turbine and generator sets for the 405 MW FDC Misamis Circulating Fluidized Bed Power Plant at Mindanao Island (pictured) in the Philippines.
In addition to providing the turbines, generator sets and condensers, Alstom (Euronext: ALO) will provide the necessary advisory services for the construction of the coal-fired plant, the units of which are expected to go online in 2016.
The power plant will generate electricity for the island, in an attempt to curb the recurring blackouts that have blighted the island’s economy.
The Misamis deal marks the second NEPC contract awarded to Alstom in the Philippines. The first one, announced in July of 2013, entailed the supply of steam turbine generators for the Concepcion power plant.
