The three plants are being built for Qatari power and water utility Umm Al Houl Power at a site 20 km south of Doha. Their power and water will be supplied to the Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) under a 25-year purchase agreement.
The order for a control system for the 2.4 GW combined-cycle power plant came from Korean engineering and construction group Samsung C&T, Yokogawa said.
The company said it will deliver its CENTUM VP integrated production control system and ProSafe-RS safety instrumentation system for the project and will provide support during installation and commissioning. The control system will be able to monitor and control operations at all three plants.
The project is expected to come online in 2017.
