Wärtsilä is to supply a 161 MW combined-cycle power plant to Yamama Cement Company in Saudi Arabia.
The $127m deal will see the Finnish company deliver ten of its 18-cylinder dual-fuel engines and a steam turbine. The plant will operate mainly on natural gas with light fuel oil and crude oil as back up fuels.
Wärtsilä will provide a full engineering, procurement and construction project as well as a five-year operation and maintenance agreement and supply spare parts for ten years.
The plant will be delivered in four phases with the first due to be delivered by the end of 2017, and the complete plant is scheduled to be handed over during the second quarter of 2019.
The construction timeline is aligned with the building schedule of a new Yamama cement plant. The deal marks Wärtsilä’s first gas-fired Flexicycle plant in Saudi Arabia.
