VA TECH ELIN EBG buys Slovakian electrical engineering company

14 Mar 2002 – VA TECH ELIN EBG, the part of the VA Tech group which specializes in the supply of electromechanical, electronic and integrated utility systems, equipment and services, has acquired a majority in the Slovakian electrical engineering company Artep a.s.

The strategic purchase consolidates the company’s position in as Central and Eastern Europe in addition to its position in its domestic Austrian market.

The company Artep a.s. is based in Kosice and was up to now in VSZ a.s. majority ownership.

The new company offers complete electrical engineering projects including drive systems, automation and installation for metal, pulp & paper and civil industry. The packages cover the planning, engineering and execution of comprehensive technical and infrastructural systems for technology and buildings and have the added advantage of avoiding interfaces.

“We can efficiently co-ordinate all measuring and regulating systems and thereby do not need interfaces which often constitute a problem. This creates added value for the client as well as for the plant engineering company,” Chairman of the Board Klaus Sernetz explained.

“By acquisition of the Artep a.s. we continue with our expansion in Slovakia in the field of electrical engineering covering professionally and geographically whole country. Our target – to be closed to our clients with professional services is maintained by our existing 100 per cent subsidiary VA TECH ELIN EBG SR s.r.o. active in Bratislava and Zilina and to be extended by Artep.” Sernetz said.
