InterGen Europe has selected Siemens to build two $803m gas-fired power plants in England, capable of generating up to 2.1 GW of power capacity.

Siemens (NYSE: SI) will be turnkey contractor to build the plants sited in Lincolnshire and Essex at Spalding and Coryton.

3,000 jobs are expected to be filled during the facility’s construction, which will see a UK debut for Siemens latest H-class gas turbines.

Both projects have been approved and are awaiting news of whether they will obtain a UK Guarantee to help seal the financing arrangement.

A construction start is pencilled for 2015.
