Siemens Energy wins Canadian wind power contract

Samsung Renewable Energy and Pattern Energy Group have awarded Siemens Energy (NYSE:à‚ SI) with a contract to supply and install 124 wind turbines at South Kent, Ontario, Canada.
The 270 MW project will generate enough energy for up to 100,000 Canadian homes. The SWT-2.3-101 wind turbines to be used have a power rating of 2.3 MW each and a rotor diameter of 101 meters.

The South Kent project is expected to be operational by spring 2014.
