BRUSSELS, BELGIUM, May 29, 2001 à‚– Several new functions are being added to the Outage Optimizer, GE’s powerful, online tool for outage planning and asset optimization, GE Power Systems announced today at Power-Gen Europe 2001.
Since it was launched in June of 2001, the Outage Optimizer has produced more than $500 million in orders, and has attracted more than 2,500 users at 600 customer sites.
Outage Optimizer has been upgraded five times since it was introduced. On June 15, these new features will be added to the site:
* The ability to copy, revise and review a previous outage plan. For example, if the same combustion inspection outage is performed every year, the user can simply click on the previous event, change the dates and the new outage plan is completed.
* A unit history tab allows customers, sales and service managers to post any document relating to their turbine on the website, including drawings, photos or outage reports.
* Each outage plan also will contain a date and user stamp, allowing numerous people to collaborate on the event.
The online site, accessed from www.gepower.com, enables owners of GE gas and steam turbines to view how turbine-specific performance improvement packages can increase output and efficiency. They also can view turbine-specific recommended and optional services, repairs and technical documents.
Outage Optimizer puts GE’s maintenance planning and service solutions at the user’s fingertips. “It vividly demonstrates how GE is using the power of e-commerce and the Internet to help our customers in the energy industry improve the performance and profitability of their power plants,” said Jean Michel Ares, CIO and E-Business Leader of GE Power Systems.
