ScottishPower Renewables today submitted plans to the Scottish government for a five-turbine extension at Whitelee wind farm near Glasgow.
The extension would generate up to 12 MW of and increase the overall capacity of Whitelee – which is Europe’s largest onshore windfarm – to 551.
The initial 140 turbines at Whitelee were completed in May 2009, and two further extensions have since been approved for an additional 75 turbines. All 75 have now been installed, with commissioning ongoing.
