On-site power boost for Irish dairy

An Irish dairy is to install an additional on-site power system to help it meet increased Chinese demand for milk products.

Lakeland Dairies in Bailieborough has ordered a second gas-fired CX501-KB7 generator set (pictured) from UK-based Centrax Gas Turbines. The unit will join a previous Centrax genset installed in 2009.

With the addition of the new unit, the facility’s power and heat requirements will be met as it steps up production of milk powder for the Chinese market, Centrax said in a statement.

The genset will be supplied through Irish power engineering firm Fingleton White, and is planned to be shipped this month for commissioning in February 2016.

Peter Ward, Centrax general manager for sales, said: ‘We’ve been working with Fingleton White for 23 years and we’re delighted to provide another unit for them. The client already benefits from one KB7 and knows its ability to provide a reliable and efficient source of energy.’
