New steam turbine destined for Leningrad nuclear plant

Power Machines has developed and tested a 1200 MW steam turbine for Unit 2 of Leningradskaya NPP-2, a nuclear power plant in Leningrad, Russia.

The Russian power plant engineering company is under contract to deliver the power unit (with VVER-type reactors), steam turbine, condensers and auxiliary equipment for turbine plant systems, for the plant which is being developed under NPP-2006 project specifications.

The NPP-2006 design enables additional passive safety systems, in combination with traditional active systems, and provides for protection against earthquakes, tsunamis, hurricanes and aircraft impacts.
