New CHP plant for German thermal baths

Rotherma thermal baths (pictured) in Gaggenau, southern Germany, has commissioned a new cogeneration plant.

Supplied by MTU Onsite Energy to replace an existing unit installed in 1991, the new plant is operated by the local public utility company.

Comprising two natural gas-fired GC 240 N5 modules ” each of which produces up to 240 kWe and 371 kWth ” an additional boiler supplements the heat output during periods of peak demand. Scope of supply from MTU included the module control system, process control, connecting equipment and two gas trains.

MTU claims a thermal efficiency of almost 92%.
