Mitsubishi Hitachi Power Systems (MHPS) and Marubeni have secured a contract to deliver turbines to power the 950 MW Pyeongtaek gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC) power plant in South Korea.

MHPS will manufacture and supply two M501J gas turbines and steam turbines to a consortium-led by POSCO Engineering & Construction (Posco E&C) and Seohee Construction, which manage engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the gas-fired power plant.

The LNG-fired facility is being developed by Shin Pyeongtaek Power, a special purpose company established by Korea Western Power (Kowepo), GS Energy and other companies.

Korea Power Exchange (KPX) will purchase the power generated at the facility, to serve the region, once commissioned in 2019.
