MAN Diesel wins Saudi O&M diesel plant deal

MAN Diesel & Turbo has won a contract for a 54 MW power plant in Saudi Arabia.

The five-year deal is with United Cement Industrial Company (UCIC) for operation and maintenance of the new plant, which MAN Diesel is currently building.

“This is a significant project for us” said Wayne Jones, senior vice-president of MAN Diesel & Turbo, who added that the deal marks the company’s “first comprehensive O&M contract in Saudi Arabia”.

The plant near Jeddah will be powered by five MAN 20V32/44 CR diesel engines which will provide electricity a UCIC cement plant.

MAN Diesel & Turbo vice-president Stefan Eefting said that “the cement industry in Saudi Arabia is a growing market. The government has initiated extensive investments in the infrastructure of the country. Accordingly, it is an important market for the MAN Diesel & Turbo power plant division.”
