MAN Diesel wins Bangladesh engine deal

MAN Diesel & Turbo has been commissioned to supply three heavy fuel oil engines to a new power plant in Bangladesh.

The 18V 48/60TS units will drive the plant in the Munshiganj district, which will provide baseload capacity to the capital Dhaka.

The power station is operated by Doreen Power and will have a capacity of 56.7 MW. Its electricity will be bought by state-owned Bangladesh Power Development Board.

The engines will be delivered next month and are expected to be commissioned in 2017.

“Bangladesh has evolved into a key market for us in the past few years,” said Alexander Stàƒ¶ckler, Head of Global Sales at MAN Diesel & Turbo.

“The Bangladesh government has introduced a state action plan to improve the country’s energy situation, which it is pursuing decisively.”
