Kfx Inc. subsidiary and Alstom Power China win first contract in China

Pegasus Technologies, a subsidiary of Kfx Inc., and Alstom Power China have been awarded their first neural network combustion optimization project at the Yangliuqing Power Plant in China.

“China is leading the way in Asia. They are taking advantage of the high technology neural net software provided by Pegasus and using it as one of the most cost effective ways of reducing emissions and increasing power plant efficiency,” said Gary Nicholson, CEO of Pegasus.

“This system will help the efficiency of the 300 MW power generation unit, reduce emissions and is expected to increase plant life due to better control of metallurgical stresses,” said Mr. Zou Deya, general manager of the Yangliuqing Power Plant.

The order is for Pegasus’ Power Perfecter(tm) software product. Pegasus and Huaneng Automation Engineering Co., a Huaneng Group company, will provide implementation and contract fulfilment.

Alstom Power China has the largest fleet of foreign manufactured installed equipment in China, whose grid of 300 000 MW is one of the largest in the world.

Beijing Huaneng Automation Engineering Co. is a subsidiary of the China Huaneng Group (Huaneng). They provide a variety of automation and control products and technical services to power plants throughout China.

Huaneng Power International, also a subsidiary of China Huaneng Group, is the largest independent power producer in the People’s Republic of China, and develops, constructs, operates and owns large thermal power plants throughout China. The Company owns and operates nine power plants, with an aggregate installed capacity of 8700 MW.

The Company owns and has in commercial operation, or has under construction/planning, power plants with an aggregate capacity of more than 17 000 MW. Huaneng focuses its efforts in those areas of China that it believes have the most favourable conditions for the development, construction, ownership and operation of power plants. Huaneng develops, constructs, owns and operates its power plants in close co-operation with local governments in the areas served by the Company’s power plants.

Pegasus Technologies, Inc. is an industry leader in neural network based ITI applications for the power generation market. Pegasus Technologies is majority-owned by KFx Inc. KFx provides total fuel solutions for the power industry.
