UK-based subsea cabling specialist JDR has been chosen by WindMW as a partner for the Meerwind Sud/Ost offshore wind farm project.

The project will use 80 wind turbines to generate 288 MW of electricity and will be located approximately 23km north of the island of Helgoland, off the German coast, with completion planned for 2013.

Andrew Norman, CEO of JDR said: “Our investment of £30M in our manufacturing facilities in Hartlepool has created over 130 additional skilled jobs in the UK and we believe the opportunity to participate in the Meerwind offshore wind farm is just the beginning of a significant period of growth for JDR and the offshore wind industry.“

JDR is a leading provider of specialist high performance subsea cables and umbilical systems for the offshore oil, gas and renewables market.
