Nov. 21, 2000¬óJapan has placed an order for 24 1.65-MW Vestas wind turbines, according to a statement by Vestas. The total value of the order, placed via Vestas’ Japanese distributor, Vestech Japan Corporation, is approximately DKK 225 million, or $26 million.

Vestech Japan Corporation, based in Tokyo, was established in June this year to serve as the sole distributor of Vestas wind turbines in the Japanese market. Vestech Japan’s largest shareholders are Toyota Trading Corp. and Kawasaki Heavy Industries.

The 24 wind turbines of the model V66-1.65 MW are to be delivered in the beginning of 2001 for two sites in the Northern part of Japan with an approximate generating capacity of 25 MW and 15 MW, respectively.

“It is a pleasure to see that the agreement with Vestech now provides result,” says Johannes Poulsen, Managing Director of Vestas Wind Systems A/S. “We look forward to seeing further progress in the Japanese market.”

The order for the Japanese market does not alter the Vestas Group’s expectations for year 2000, according to the company. Vestas has seen its stock rise 380% over the past year. For further information, please contact the Board of Management, Vestas Wind Systems A/S, phone +45 96 752575.
