Irish utility to build 1500 MW gas powered plant in UK

Irish utility ESB plans to invest à‚£750m (US$1.2bn) to build a new 1500-MW gas-fired power plant in Britain.

The new power facility will be equipped with combined-cycle gas turbines and located on a former chemical works site at Knottingley near Leeds, reports Reuters.

Construction is slated to begin in 2015 with operations projected to start in 2018.
