The wind farm will be supplied out of the Argentine turbine manufacturer’s Brazilian factories and is expected to come on line in 2014.

Impsa will deliver its IWP83 direct-drive wind turbines to the project, with towers of 72-meters.

The wind farm is part of the Venezuelan government’s attempt to increase the role of renewable energy in the electricity supply mix.

Having struggled with blackouts in recent times as a result of droughts impacting on hydropower facilities, the Latin American nation has set a goal of installing 10GW of wind power by 2025.
