Iberdrola awards maintenance contracts for 4GW of wind turbines

Iberdrola has awarded maintenance contracts to service 4 GW of its wind turbines in Spain and Portugal.

The contracts are worth a combined €110m. Iberdrola had 5,507 MW of installed capacity in Spain and 92 MW in Portugal at the end of 2017.
Wind Power Monthly reports that the framework agreements include two-year basic maintenance contracts and three-year risk service ࢀ” including preventive and small corrective maintenance, as well as predictive maintenance of oil use.

All wind farms subject to the agreements use Siemens Gamesa turbines, Iberdrola stated.

Vestas will be the main beneficiaries, carrying out preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance for 2,190 MW of wind turbines. Siemens Gamesa, meanwhile, will maintain 1,265MW.

Iberdrola has also hired the services of Basque maintenance and energy solutions companies Ingeteam (233.3MW) and Tamoin (421MW), Galician maintenance company IM Future (218MW) and Portuguese engineering company Efacec (96.9MW), following a tendering process.
