GE has won a turnkey contract to equip the Bouchemma simple-cycle gas-fired power plant in Tunisia.GE 9E equipment

The plant will receive two GE 9E.03 gas turbines and electrical Balance of Plant (eBOP) equipment, the equivalent power needed to supply more than 1.2 million Tunisian homes.

Bouchemma is run by the Tunisian Electricity & Gas Company, who can expect to receive the equipment in time for the 2016 summer tourist season.

GE has 15 turbines at seven plants in Tunisia, with a total installed capacity of more than 1.8 GW of electricity.

Electricity consumption at the plant grows by about 8 per cent every year.
