BELFORT, France, July 30, 2001GE Power Systems has secured a contract valued at 120 million Francs ($U.S. 16 million) with Civil Contracting Co LLC to supply one MS6001FA gas turbine-generator and auxiliary equipment for a power plant in Haima West, Oman.
GE also received a contract valued at $U.S. 1.1 million to provide technical advisory services at the plant.
The natural gas-fired plant, owned by Petroleum Development Oman, will produce 67-megawatts of electricity. The MS6001FA gas turbine, equipped with a GE Dry Low NOx combustion unit, will be manufactured in GE Power Systems’ Belfort, France plant and shipped to the customer site by December of 2001. Commercial operation of the new plant is scheduled to begin in June of 2002.
Developed by GE Power Systems in the early 1990s, the MS6001FA is designed for mid-range applications. Today, this 70-megawatt class, advanced F-technology gas turbine is a core component in more than 38 existing and planned power plants worldwide.
Sixty-nine GE technology units are currently installed or on order for projects in Oman, representing over 3,700 megawatts of power.
