BRUSSELS, Belgium, May 29, 2001 GE Harris Energy Control Systems, LLC has received a contract to supply a distribution control system for Rigas Elektrotikls, a subsidiary of State Joint Stock Company Latvenergo based in Riga, Latvia.
The equipment being provided to Rigas Elektrotikls will monitor and control the MV and LV substations, covering the distribution power network for the city of Riga. The contract includes the installation of an XA/21 SCADA distribution control system and a complete communications network solution and remote terminal units (RTUs), which will be commissioned by local manufacturer Arcus Elektronika. The new system will improve cost efficiency and fault analysis, as well as customer service and repair time.
GE Harris has established a strong presence in the Baltic and Scandinavian region as an energy control system supplier and has won five SCADA/EMS contracts in the past two years.
