Foster Wheeler awarded 400 MW power plant in Italy

30 October 2002 – Foster Wheeler Ltd. announced today that its Milan-based subsidiary, Foster Wheeler Italiana, S.p.A., has been awarded a contract by Voghera Energia S.r.l., valued at approximately $113m, for a grassroots combined-cycle cogeneration plant to be built at Voghera, near Pavia, in Italy.

The plant is a natural gas-fired power station consisting of a single-shaft gas turbine and steam turbine generator, heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) and balance of plant (BOP) facilities.

Foster Wheeler will provide engineering, material supply, construction, coordination of pre-commissioning, commissioning and testing for this lump-sum, turnkey cogeneration plant.

The power train (turbine and steam turbine generator) has been purchased by Voghera Energia from ANSALDO. The gas turbine technology selected is Siemens (V.94.3).

The generators are designed for high efficiency operation, which means a reduction in fuel consumption and very low levels of emissions from the combustion process.
