Michael Ladwig from GE Power in Switzerland is the elected new president of EUTurbines, the association representing Europe’s gas and steam turbine based technology providers.

The new leadership team for the next two years is completed by Daniela Gentile from Ansaldo Energia in Italy and Thomas Thiemann from Siemens Power & Gas in Germany as new vice-presidents of the association.Michael Ladwig from GE Power

“A key priority for my presidency will be, to highlight that highly flexible and efficient gas and steam play an important role in the energy mix of today and in the future, not only for power generation, but also in industrial applications” said Ladwig.

“Turbines are core elements for many sustainable energy generation technologies, from gas turbines in gas fired power stations and in cogeneration to steam turbines in renewable applications like biomass, geothermal or concentrated solar power generation. They are also enablers for an efficient waste-heat reuse in energy intensive industries and can burn also hydrogen produced by excess renewable energy.”

The members of EUTurbines are globally leading manufacturers and providers of turbine-related system solutions for the energy sector and industry. In 2015, roughly three quarters of Europe’s electricity was generated with the use of turbines manufactured by these companies.
