E.ON awards submarine cable contract for Humber offshore wind

Norddeutsche Seekabelwerke (NSW) has won the contract to supplyà‚  E.ON‘s (FWB:à‚ EOAN) offshore wind farm on the Humber estuary in England.

The German cable firm will supply 82km of medium-voltage submarine cables for the Humber Gateway offshore wind farm.

à‚  The 219MW wind farm will be sited 8km off the East Yorkshire coast and will encompass 73 turbines.

à‚  NSW managing director Thorsten Schwarz said he was pleased Eon had chosen them for this project.

He said: “In the last months we’ve continued to expand our subsea cable production facilities based on the expectations that offshore wind will take on the expected importance in the future European electricity generation mix. It is good to see that investors like E.ON continue to prove their commitment to offshore wind by investing in projects here in UK, as well as Sweden and Germany.”
