EnBW awards Siemens-Gamesa wind turbine contract

Siemens-Gamesa Renewable Energy has secured a contract to supply and install 16 direct-drive SWT-7.0-154 wind turbines on EnBW’s 112MW Albatros offshore wind power plant in the north of Borkum Island in the German North Sea.

The installation will be carried out on monopile foundations and the grid connection will be achieved through a Siemens offshore transformer module (OTM).

Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy offshore’s chief executive officerà‚ (CEO) Michael Hannibal said: “EnBW Albatros allows us to demonstrate our broad competence in offshore projects, ranging from project specific engineering services and the beneficial combination of power generation and transmission technology to service and maintenance concepts.”

“We will turn this 112 MW wind power plant into a highly profitable investment for our customer via cutting-edge technology and smart details.”

Siemens Gamesa will begin installation on both the plants next year. Following commission in 2019, Siemens Gamesa will also offer service and maintenance services over a period of five years.
