Doosan Skoda in Mexico steam turbine deal

Doosan Skoda Power has won a contract for a 300 MW steam turbine in Mexico ” the fourth deal it has secured in the country in less than a year.

The Czech Republic company will install the unit at the Emplame II combined cycle power plant in the state of Sonora.Doosan Skoda steam turbines

The new plant will operate on natural gas and will have a total capacity of 770 MW when completed in 2018.

The EPC contractor and Doosan Skoda’s client is a consortium of Spanish companies Duro Felguera and Elecnor.

David Zeman, Latin America manager for Doosan Skoda Power, said that the 300 MW class three-casing Skoda steam turbine will be designed to withstand the inlet steam temperature of supercritical values of 600 à‚°C.

The plant will be operated by CFE, Mexico’s state-owned electric company. It is estimated that energy demand in the north of Mexico will grow annually by an average of 3.6 per cent.
