Denmark-based hybrid power firm Danvest and Caterpillar genset dealer Pon Power have announced the launch of a range of compact solar-diesel hybrid systems.

The new range “offers power producers a complete, cost-effective solution that automatically integrates photovoltaic systems with diesel power”, the companies said.

The range is based on Caterpillar gensets and features low-load and reverse-power operation. The gensets can run on 100 per cent solar power during the day, Danvest said, and “are able to respond to any drop in solar output or increase in power demand”.

The system comes in a sound-attenuated enclosure and is equipped with low-load technology and control- and power-panel system with dump-load controlling.

Storage systems and additional solar capacity may be added.

The plug-and-play hybrid power modules come in 220 kWe, 400 kWe, 508 kWe and 648 kWe ratings.

According to Danvest, the system typically saves its operators between 30 and 40 per cent in fuel costs per year.
