Bharat Heavy Electricals has secured a contract to provide electro-mechanical equipment package for a 1020 MW hydroelectric power project to be located on the Punathsangchu River in Bhutan.
The $166m contract will be delivered for Punatsangchhu Hydroelectric Project Authority, which will execute the project.
The Indian based Bharat will manufacture, supply, erect and commission the electro-mechanical equipment which includes six Francis turbines and generators of 170 MW each and associated equipment.
The company’s Electronic Division at Bangalore, India will manufacture and supply control system while turbines and generators will be manufactured by its facility in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.
