Argentina’s Ministry of Energy and Mining has awarded a contract for two fast-track power plants to APR Energy, the company announced this week.

The five-year projects, together valued at over $450 million, will provide a total of 350 MW and will feature 14 of APR’s dual-fuel mobile gas turbines.

In a statement, APR said the contract represents the largest single award in its history and the largest share of power capacity awarded by Argentina to an international company.

APR CEO John Campion said the award “further demonstrates that turbines have a key place in the fast-track power market.”

Argentina is facing power cuts this year due to a combination of falling domestic gas production, high winter power demand and limited gas supply from its main source, Bolivia.
