Andritz Hydro to equip hydro plant in Costa Rica

Austrian plant engineering company, Andritz Hydro has won a contract by the Institute of Electricity of Costa Rica to supply equipment for a 300 MW hydro power plant in Costa Rica.

Under the terms of the contract, Andritz Hydro will be responsible for the supply and supervision of the installation of four Francis turbines, generators, and the electrical and mechanical equipment for the Reventazàƒ³n hydroelectric power project.

The hydropower plant will contribute towards the Costa Rican goal to become a carbon neutral country by the next decade, according to Energy Business Review.

The four Andritz Hydro Francis units will provide approximately 524,000 households with environmentally-friendly electricity by 2016.
