March 19, 2001—ALSTOM has been awarded a 7-year contract worth 60 million euro to operate, support and maintain a 400 MW gas-fired combined-cycle plant which the company is constructing in Castejon, Spain.

The O&M contract was placed by a subsidiary of the utility, Hidroelectrica del Cantabrico SA.

Under the O&M contract, ALSTOM Power will undertake operation support and maintenance for the complete facility, including the gas turbine, the generator, the heat recovery steam generator and the steam turbine and balance of plant.

O&M support from the Original Equipment Manufacturer is designed to secure optimal service for the power plant by ensuring and guaranteeing high performance and availability.

ALSTOM previously signed a turnkey contract to supply the GT26-based combined-cycle power plant, which is scheduled to enter operation in the second half of 2002.
