Alstom has announced it has won anà‚ order valued atà‚ about $500m toà‚ equip Russian nuclear plants.
Alstom will provide turbine equipment, andà‚ its order is part ofà‚ a contract valued atà‚ more than 35 billion rubles ($1.2bn) awarded toà‚ a venture 51 per cent owned byà‚ Rosatom’s Atomenergomash andà‚ 49 per cent byà‚ Alstom, according toà‚ a statement.
Alstom’s partnership with Rosatom contrasts with Siemens‘ announcement four months ago that it would abandon aà‚ planned return toà‚ the nuclear power industry andà‚ drop plans toà‚ cooperate with Rosatom inà‚ reactors.
Theà‚ French company is forging partnerships inà‚ countries such as Brazil andà‚ Russia toà‚ tap rising infrastructure needs.
