Aggreko to power 2014 Commonwealth Games

Glasgow, Scotland hosts next year’s Commonwealth Games and the events are to be provided with on-site power equipment by Aggreko which is headquartered in the city.

A world leader in the provision of temporary power Aggreko will provide its services across the Games’ 13 sports venues and the Athletes Village.

This will be supplied via 103 individual generator sets connected through a network of more than 1,000 distribution boards and 200 kilometres of cabling.

The temporary power systems supplied by Aggreko will form an integral part of the Commonwealth Games sustainability planning by utilising existing venues and providing all additional power requirements through temporary infrastructure.

The company was also the official temporary energy services supplier to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Recent customers also include the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
