Northland Power has completed the construction of its 600 MW Gemini offshore wind farm, off the Dutch coast.

The $3.6bn wind farm, 85 KM off Groningen comprises 150 Siemens wind turbines and will meet the needs of 1.5 million people in the Netherlands.

The plant was completed on time and within budget.

Northland CEO John Brace said: “The successful completion of our first offshore wind farm — ahead of schedule and under budget — combined with the loan restructuring, reflects Northland’s proficiency in delivering high-quality sustainable energy infrastructure that provides attractive shareholder returns.”

Owners of the Gemini offshore wind farm include Northland Power with 60 per cent stake, Siemens Financial Services with 20 per cent stake, Van Oord Dredging and Marine Contractors with 10 per cent stake and N.V. HVC  with the remaining 10 per cent stake.
