2400 MW hydro power plant begins operations in Vietnam

The largest hydro power plant in Vietnam is now fully operational.

All six turbines of the 2400 MW Son La project are now connected to the country’s national grid, seven years after the project was initiated in 2005, at an investment cost of $2.5bn.

The project has thus far contributed about 11400 GWh electricity to the grid, bringing back $55m into the construction of the project.

The Son La project includes a 453ft by 300ft concrete dam that impounds the Da River in northern Vietna, reports Energy Business Review.
