Foster Wheeler wins Vietnam coal plant deal

Foster Wheeler (Nasdaq:FWLT) has won a contract from Marubeni Corp to design and supply two pulverized coal arch fired steam generators for Thai Binh power plant in Vietnam.

The power station is operated by Vietnam Electricity and is in Thai Binh province. Commercial operation of the first unit is scheduled for October 2017 while the second is expected in April 2018.

Foster Wheeler will design and supply two 300 MW steam generators and auxiliary equipment for the boiler islands. The boilers will be designed to burn local anthracite coal.

“Our advanced arch-combustion technology is designed for stability and low emissions while optimizing combustion efficiency,” said Gary Nedelka, chief executive of Foster Wheeler Global Power Group. “We are pleased to again be selected to work with Marubeni on such an important project in meeting the increasing power demands of Vietnam.”
