Didcot power

An enormous transformer destined for Didcot coal-fired power plant caused 13 mile tailbacks on the M4 UK motorway over the weekend.

The transformer, at 640 tonnes, 100 metres in length and five metres wide is the biggest load ever transported on a British road and is heavier than a space shuttle.

It began its slow journey in Oxfordshire on Friday, and on Sunday it continued along the M32 to the transformer’s final destination at Avonmouth Docks, Bristol, arriving at 6pm.
