Czech power producer CEZ has expressed interest in the purchase of Swedish utility Vattenfall’s lignite coal and hydroelectric power assets in Germany.
Central Europe’s biggest listed utility will present a bid once more information is provided on the conditions of sale.
Vattenfall said last week that it expected to complete the sale of its German ligntite assets in 2015.
“We are following the process but it will depend on what assets and under what conditions Vattenfall will offer them for sale,” CEZ spokeswoman Barbora Pulpanova said of the hydropower plants, adding that it is taking a similar approach to the lignite portfolio.
CEZ Chief Executive Daniel Benes was quoted by Lidove Noviny newspaper on Thursday as saying that CEZ would be interested in the hydro plants if they went up for sale.
