Dubai Electricity & Water Authority (Dewa) has invited consultants to submit bids for the engineering consultancy contract to expand the 1846 MW Aweer power station H.

The closing date for bids is 10th April for the consultancy role for the phase 4 expansion of the gas-fired power plant.

Peak power demand growth in Dubai is growing by over 5 per cent a year, necessitating DEWA’s push for an ambitious capacity expansion programme.

In addition to expanding existing plants, Dewa is undertaking a number of major new power projects.

These include the 800 MW third phase of the Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum solar park, and the 1,200 MW first phase of the Hassyan coal-fired power plant.
