Alstom is to equip the Gadarwara super thermal power plant in India with components and services in a deal worth $129m to the French energy solutions provider.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd. (BHEL), has awarded Alstom Thermal Power the contract to design the boilers and supply pressure parts of the 800 MW supercritical boilers along with pulverisers and air preheater components.
Key components will be manufactured in Wellsville and Concordia in the US, as well as in Durgapur and Shahabad, India.

The supercritical boiler technology helps in achieving around 3 per cent higher plant efficiency compared to conventional subcritical design.
