Energy company, Fenix Power, is set to invest $700m in the construction and operation of a 520 MW thermal power plant in Peru, according to press reports.

The plant is due to start operations in 2013 and it will generate around 10 per cent of energy requirement of Peru to keep energy generation growth, according to the company’s general manager Ernesto Cordova.

Currently in Peru, 58 per cent of energy generation derives from hydroelectric plants and 34 per cent from natural gas.
