Chinese coal mine gas on-site power

Sichuan Coal Group is to use two GE Energy Jenbacher coal mine methane (CMM) gas engines to generate onsite power for an active mine.

Located in XunChang Town, Gongxian County, in the Sichuan Province pf China, the units will supply the company's Furong project.

The engines will provide a combined 6.1 MWe while their exhaust gas heat will produce steam, for use in a steam turbine generating additional power.

Operations are due to begin by the end of March 2009.
